L’Ancresse Open Blog

The weather was very good, with all 66 teams enjoying a great day’s golf on average taking about 4 hours to go around. After each game came in, a Buffet was available for each team player, consisting of burgers, sausages, steak, chips and salad, followed by cheese and biscuits.

At 9.30 pm the presentation was made, which was well attended, albeit very noisy. A bit too much to drink by a few, never the less all in good spirits.

The Sponsors ” Appleby” had a great time and were very pleased with the whole day.

Team Jesus, from Jersey, were the best of the day with a score of 82 points. In second place was Mick Marley’s team, also on 82 points followed another team from Jersey in third.

On Saturday, 6th of August, the Individual Open was played. Weather on Friday was good, Saturday was even better with sunshine and no wind all day.

With a full field, low scores were expected and we were not disappointed. We had a fantastic winning score of 61 nett by Russell Torode who took the handicap trophy and a brilliant 68 gross by Mick Marley took the scratch prize, followed by Mick Hamon taking the Vet’s prize with a score of 70 nett. The overall nearest the pin was won by Rob Teed.

The presentation in the evening was quite well attended and once again our sponsors, “Appleby” were very pleased with the whole event.

Thanks once again to “Appleby” for all their support.
